Destinations in Mexico are recognized as the best in the world
The World Travel Awards 2023 has recognized destinations in Mexico as the best in the world in terms of their tourist services. Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards is known as the “Tourism Oscars,” and each year, it conducts a Grand Tour around the world to recognize excellence on each continent, culminating in a showdown between the winners of each region.
In 2023, several destinations in Mexico have been nominated in three different categories. In the Adventure Tourism category, the nominees are Cozumel, Jalcomulco in Veracruz, La Paz in Baja California Sur, Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca, and Puerto Morelos in Quintana Roo.
In the category of Leading Beach Destination in Mexico and Central America, the nominees are Acapulco, Cancun, Cozumel, Los Cabos, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.
Finally, in the Leading Destination category, the nominees are Cancun, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Los Cabos, Mexico City, Oaxaca, and San Miguel de Allende.
Some of the achievements of these destinations in previous years include Cozumel winning in the category of Beach Destination in 2017, 2018, and 2021, while Puerto Morelos has won in the last four editions in the category of Adventure Tourism Destination.
Tulum won last year in the category of Leading Beach Destination in Mexico and Central America, while Mexico City took the award in the Business Tourism category in 2022. These nominations showcase the international recognition of the diversity and quality of destinations in Mexico.
